Monthly Musings...

Our Models are more than pretty faces and outstanding personalities.  They are also well read and knowledgeable on many topics!  In this portion of our blog we will feature opinion articles on literature, movies, music, fashion and more!

For our first entry, Bicoastal's own Model Manager and self proclaimed "Movie Buff" Nikki Gomez has decided to chime in and share her thoughts on the Oscar winner, Matthew McConaughey's performance in the Best Picture Nominated film;  "Dallas Buyers Club".

"Alright, alright. alright."  Matthew McConaughey's portrayal as Ron Woodruff, a reluctant pioneer in the war against HIV/AIDS during a time when the illness was an immediate death sentence was a far departure from the actor once known for his romantic comedies and the memorably sleazy, David Wooderson from 1993's "Dazed and Confused".

I have to admit for years I was completely turned off to the actor and even cringed when I saw him dance in "Magic Mike".  Little did I know his growth as an actor was just beginning.  McConaughey was completely believable in this role.  Yes, some of the transformation can be attributed to his loss of over 47 pounds for the role but, I think what I found most impressive was the actors restraint.  Over the years he has managed to fine tune his technique, and manages to lose himself completely in this role.

After seeing his performance in "Dallas Buyer's Club" it was no surprise to me why he won the coveted best actor oscar and it is my belief he is poised to win a best actor Emmy for his work in HBO's "True Detective" as well.

This former skeptic looks forward to seeing more of Matthew McConaughey in films and television in the future.  He has a new fan in me!
